ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
PROGRAM




TIM ANDERSON, clarinet, is a native of McLean, Virginia. Mr. Anderson studied clarinet with Charles West at Virginia Commonwealth University and James Pyne at the Ohio State University, where he earned an M.M. in Clarinet Performance and an M.A. in Musicology. Also a Software Engineer, German Teacher and student of ancient Greek language and philosophy, Tim lives with his wife and three young children in Fairfax, Virginia..










WENDY OLSON POSNER, violin, is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in music from Indiana University, and Master's and Doctoral degrees in music from the University of Michigan. Her dissertation recitals focused on the influence of Bela Bartok, particularly in his use of folk music, on the twentieth-century violin repertoire. Dr. Olson Posner has performed extensively as second violinist of the DaVinci String Quartet. She has recorded the string chamber works of Charles Martin Loeffler for Naxos Records and the string music of Leslie Bassett for Equilibrium Records. Dr. Olson Posner has served as a faculty member at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music and the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Dr. Olson Posner currently freelances in the Washington, DC area, and resides in Burke, Virginia with her husband and two young sons.






HARRIET VORONA, violin, is very active as a freelance musician in the Washington, DC area and has worked with various orchestras and chamber music groups, including the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Gallery Orchestra, Fairfax Symphony, and Concert Opera. She is a member of the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and a founder of the Fairfax Chamber Ensemble, which had its inauguration concert in 2008. A native of Bad Pyrmont, Germany, Mrs. Vorona has won several prizes in national competitions in the categories solo and chamber music and has given recitals in Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Japan, and the US. Her playing has been broadcast on German radio. She earned a Masters of Music from the Musikhochschule Frankfurt, Germany, Performer Diploma from Indiana University, and continued with postgraduate studies in Jerusalem, Israel. Mrs. Vorona’s teachers include Barbara Rau, Edith Peinemann, Franco Gulli and Hagai Shaham. She also attended master classes with Ulf Hoelscher, Ruggiero Ricci and Yair Kless.  Mrs. Vorona lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and three young children.






HELEN FALL, viola, is a freelance musician in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, performing on both viola and violin. She is a member of the Alexandria and Fairfax Symphonies, and has performed in other orchestras throughout the DC area including the National Gallery Orchestra, the National Chamber Orchestra and the Arlington Symphony, where she served as principal viola from 1984-2004. Ms. Fall is actively engaged as a freelance teacher/coach in schools and youth orchestras throughout the DC area, and as an adjudicator for orchestra and solo festivals and competitions. She was the founding Program Coordinator for Chamber Music of Arlington, serving on the faculty from 1991-1997. Ms. Fall has been honored to receive awards for her work in music education, including Distinguished Service Award (2008) and Outstanding String Teacher of the Year (2010) from the Virginia String Teachers Association, the State Chapter Leadership Award from the American String Teachers Association (2009), and the Barbara Serage Award for Music Education from the Fairfax Symphony (2010). Ms. Fall teaches violin and viola, and coaches chamber music privately in her home studio in Fairfax, VA.







JEFF VAN OSTEN, started his cello studies at age 16 with Jerome Carrington of
the Juilliard Prep School.  He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Indiana University, where his teachers included Gary Hoffman and Janos Starker. He toured with the Harlem Opera Company and has played with several of the regional orchestras around Washington, DC.  He has taught at Levine School in Washington for 14 years
and has a private studio in Alexandria, VA.
